Saffron Walden Bungalow Transformation
Project Overview:
Our client purchased an old, dilapidated bungalow in the heart of Sa7ron Walden, situated on a lovely plot but in need of substantial work to meet their vision of a modern, spacious home.
Province Group took on the challenge, combining our expertise in new builds, full refurbishments, and project management to transform this neglected property into a beautiful and expansive family home.
The Challenge:
The bungalow, although located in a desirable area, was outdated and structurally limiting. The client’s goal was to create a much larger home with modern amenities while maintaining the charm of traditional aesthetics.
The project required extensive planning, including obtaining planning permission to demolish parts of the original structure and create a much larger property.
Our Approach:
Once planning permission was secured, we employed a comprehensive approach to achieve the transformation:
Demolition and Extension: We carefully removed the existing roof and exterior walls before extending the bungalow with a single-storey extension, significantly increasing the ground floor footprint.
Building Up: By installing attic trusses, we were able to add a large second storey, e7ectively converting the bungalow into a two-storey home.
New Build Treatment: Following the structural changes, we treated the project as a new build, constructing an entirely new house shell while maintaining elements of the original structure.
Key Features:
The result was a stunning, 4,500 square foot home with a seamless blend of traditional and contemporary design elements:
Mock Tudor Style: The exterior featured half-cladding and half-rendering, giving the home a Tudor-style appearance, while the use of aluminium glazing added a contemporary twist.
High-End Interior Finishes: We installed three designer bathrooms and a large- scale designer kitchen, with every detail of the house meticulously planned and executed to the highest standard.
Full Fit-Out: From start to finish, the home was completely fitted out with high-quality materials, fixtures, and finishes, creating a luxurious and comfortable living space.
The Result:
What began as a small, dilapidated bungalow was transformed into a stunning, spacious home, meeting the client’s needs for both functionality and style. The newly built house now stands as a four-bedroom family home, o7ering the perfect balance between traditional charm and modern convenience.
